Ann Trout, Athens County Clerk of Courts

Let me introduce myself:
My name is Ann Trout and I am a Democratic Candidate for the March Primary
 
About myself and my family:
My husband, Alan and I have been lifelong residents of Athens County and longtime supporters of the Democratic Party.
We have two sons, Aaron, a freshman at Ohio University, and our oldest Andy,
who just re-enlisted for his 2nd four years in the United States Navy.
 
My Life Experiences:
I have been active in the community for many years-
· A member of the Alexander Band Boosters for 8 years
· 4-H Advisors for 9 years
· Cub Scout Leader for 6 years
· and presently Secretary for the Alexander Lions Club

Ihave written for The Athens Messenger, including human interest articles for “Our Neighbors Column” and until the present, a member on the Board
of Contributors.
 
Job Experience:
I have worked for the Clerk of Courts office for 18 years. First with Marjorie Mitchell, and presently with Christie Mitchell.There have been manychanges to both of the Clerk of Courts offices, the Legal Department and the Title Office during my 18 years. The Title Office is now facing a major change with the relocation of the office. With this change will come improvements and convenience to area residents.
 
Improvements to the office:
With the move of the Title Office I would like to further extend the hours.
When we moved to the Mall location the present Clerk extended hours to
include longer weekday hours that opened the office from 8:00 to 5:00,
and also adding Saturday hours of 9:00 to 12:00.
I would like to expand on this and have the office open until 6:30 on Monday evenings to coincide with the Bureau of Motor Vehicles hours.
Also with the passing of pending legislation I would like to have
the Title office become a Limited Authority Deputy Registrar.
With this residents may purchase 30-day tags and first time plates.
We may also do out of state serial number inspection which will end the back and forth trips between the Title office and the Bureau of Motor Vehicles.
 
With my years of experience in the office, working with the public, my community service background and my support of the Democratic Party, I feel I am the most qualified for the Clerk of Courts position.
