Theisen, County
Commissioner
Bill Theisen was first elected to the Athens County Commission in 1992 and
re-elected with over 60% of the vote in 1996. Bill Theisen is a full-time
Commissioner, often working more than 40 hours a week. He is a strong advocate
for economic development, which means fair pay and health benefits for workers.
A true Democrat, Bill stands for senior citizen programs, youth programs,
and is a firm believer in personal property rights. His leadership on county
budget issues is well known. In his own words: "Athens County needs
no new taxes in order to continue current levels of services."
Bill served as President of the Athens County Commissioners from 1993 to
1995. He is a retired U.S. Postmaster and a veteran of the Korean War. He
and his wife Jane live in Nelsonville.
