Carol Patterson Carol Patterson, Council Second Ward
 
First elected to Athens City Council in 1999, Carol Patterson is a dynamic, energetic, recently retired teacher, who interested in being proactive in the community. She spent three decades in the classroom teaching Athens-area high school students. She is currently working as an artist in residence for the Dairy Barn, and as an adjunct professor for the Interpersonal Communications program at Ohio University. She is also an International Exchange Coordinator for the EF Foundation for Foreign Studies. She serves as artistic advisor to the Athens Lawn, Garden, and Nursery Center.
A 35-year-resident of Athens City Ward 2, Carol has an understanding of the history of the area and an appreciation for its values. With no previous political experience, she is not tied to anyone else's agenda and is ready to listen to the desires and concerns of south side residents. Carol recognizes the need to continue to work in Athens for responsible approaches to planning, development, and city code enforcement. She will work to keep the Athens community a place where people want to live, while keeping sight of the diversity and artistic flavor of the area.

Carol holds a BS from Michigan State University and an MA from Ohio University. Her two children both received OU degrees. Leslie lives in Cleveland with her husband and two children; Nolan lives in Denver.
